Forgotten Fashionistas Talk with couture designer Coral Turner
Join the conversation with couture designer Coral Turner as she pays homage to historical black women in fashion. History has generally failed to acknowledge the incredible contribution of women of African, African American and Caribbean origin for their remarkable achievements as designers, seamstresses and inventors. In this discussion Coral will share incredible stories of some of these gifted women, who not only deserve more recognition for their exceptional skills, but who deserve our attention — and gratitude — for their enduring legacy of contributions, inspiration, and entrepreneurial insight.
Coral Turner is the owner of Coral Turner Couture, a sole trader of luxury women’s wear, specialising in couture ready-to-wear garments that are one-of-a-kind and bespoke pieces for individuals. With her passion for sewing and a love of fabrics, Coral continues to expand her knowledge of the craft by working in collaboration with fellow artisans. Shortlisted for the Greenwich Small Business Award in 2020; awarded Luxury Women’s Wear Designer 2023 by Innovation and Excellence.
NB This talk will take place at Woolwich Front Room NOT at Made in Greenwich!
