Upcycled tapestry brooches
These unique brooches are woven onto an intricate handmade wire frame using tapestry wools sourced from charity shops and brocantes. Designer Mary Jane Makes specialises in creating one-off pieces that are inspired by vintage finds. These flowers are made using a technique that was popular from the Victorian era right through to the 1930's but is rarely used today. Mary Jane rediscovered the method after unpicking a single flower and researching the methods used to make it. It was part of a whole bouquet of vintage wool flowers in a glass box that were given to her as a present. Each brooch measures approx 7-8cm across. Quite large. Look great on a tweed jacket!
